Located on the northern end of Bella Bella, the Red Cedar Trail is a beloved community pathway that winds through pristine old-growth forest, offering visitors an immersive experience in the natural beauty of Heiltsuk Territory.


Rebuilt: Summer 2024 with significant upgrades completed in 2025

Difficulty: Easy to Moderate

Experience: Leisurely stroll surrounded by ancient cedar and spruce trees

Features: 8 new bridges, multiple rest benches, well-maintained tread

Best for: Families, nature lovers, photographers, all fitness levels


What to Expect: This trail is perfect for those seeking a peaceful connection with nature. The wide, well-maintained path allows visitors to immerse themselves in the beauty of the old-growth forest without requiring extensive hiking experience. The newly constructed bridges provide safe crossings over streams and wet areas, while strategically placed benches offer perfect spots to pause, reflect, and take in the natural surroundings.

 

Recommended Footwear: Waterproof hiking boots or runners (especially on rainy days)

 

Trail Conditions: The trail experiences seasonal changes — on rainy days, expect moss, mud, and wet conditions; on sunny days, the path is solid and well-draining.
